Core Platform

Everything your team needs.
Nothing they don't.

DOBS replaces paper charts, WhatsApp photos, and Excel spreadsheets with a secure, structured clinical record system designed for care home workflows.

Digital Body Maps
Tap on a life-like anatomical figure to document wounds, pressure injuries, bruises, or concerns. Separate male/female, front/back views. Every mark is timestamped and attributed to a staff member.
Vital Signs & NEWS2
Record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, O2 saturation, and consciousness. NEWS2 score auto-calculates to Royal College of Physicians standards. Red alerts fire instantly at score ≥7.
AI Safeguarding Alerts
Pattern recognition monitors behaviour, mood, and physical observations across time. Automatically flags mood decline, incident clusters, unexplained injuries, and deterioration before they become reportable events.
Traffic-Light Status Rings
Every resident avatar shows a live colour ring: green (on time), amber (due in 5 mins, pulsing), red (overdue, urgent). Staff can see who needs attention the moment they open the app — no lists to scan.
Push Notifications
Amber and red obs status trigger real-time browser push notifications. Staff are alerted the moment a resident is overdue — even when the tab is in the background. No app download required.
Family Portal
Give families read-only access to view their loved one's recent observations, general wellbeing updates, and key information. PIN-protected, secure, and accessible on any device.
Observation History & Charts
Every entry is stored and visualised. View BP trends, NEWS2 over time, GCS charts, fluid intake progress, and sleep patterns. Export complete observation histories for CQC inspections.
Biometric Login
Staff authenticate with fingerprint or Face ID via WebAuthn. No passwords to forget. PIN fallback is bcrypt-hashed. Every action is tied to a named staff member in the tamper-proof audit log.
PWA — Tablet Ready
Installs directly to the home screen of any iPad or Android tablet. Optimised for gloves, single-handed use, and shared devices. Works offline and syncs automatically when reconnected.

Clinical Monitoring

Five observation types. One system.

Clinical leads configure which monitoring types are active per resident. Staff only see what's relevant — no clutter, no confusion.

Vital Signs (NEWS2)
BP, pulse, temperature, respiration, O2 sat, AVPU. Auto-calculates National Early Warning Score 2 per RCP guidelines. Instant escalation alerts.
Behavioural & Mood
Document agitation, distress, confusion, social engagement, and sleep quality using structured observation categories. Track trends over days and weeks.
Neurological (GCS)
Glasgow Coma Scale scoring for eye, verbal, and motor response. Pupil size and reactivity. Limb movement assessment. Alerts on GCS ≤8 or 2-point decline.
Food & Fluid Intake
Log meals, fluid intake, refusals, and assistance required. 24-hour countdown gauges show fluid ml and calorie targets. Alerts when intake falls below safe thresholds.
Sleep Monitoring
Hourly sleep checks populate a 24-hour timeline. Visualise sleep patterns across days. Identify disturbances and correlate with daytime behaviour observations.

Observation Status

Know who needs attention. Instantly.

No more checking clipboards or spreadsheets to find out who's due for obs. Every resident has a live status ring that updates automatically.

  • Green — All observations are on schedule. No action required.
  • Amber (pulsing) — Next observation due within 5 minutes. Notification sent.
  • Red (urgent pulse) — Observation overdue or pending escalation. Immediate action required.

AI Safeguarding

Catch deterioration before it
becomes a crisis.

DOBS analyses patterns across all observations, not just the last entry. It connects the dots so your team can act before a situation escalates.

CRITICAL
NEWS2 ≥ 7 Alert
Fires instantly when vital signs reach high-risk threshold. Suggests escalation to 1:1 monitoring. Documented in audit log automatically.
URGENT
Rising NEWS2 Trend
Detects when score has increased by 2+ points within 12 hours — even if still in the amber zone. Prompts clinical review before score reaches red.
CRITICAL
GCS ≤ 8 Alert
Immediate alert on critically low Glasgow Coma Scale. Also flags 2+ point drops and changes in pupil reactivity or size asymmetry >2mm.
URGENT
Mood Decline Pattern
Detects 3+ consecutive negative mood observations. Flags for safeguarding review before a pattern becomes a reportable concern.
ALERT
Incident Clustering
Identifies 3+ incidents within a 7-day window. Raises a safeguarding concern automatically. Supports duty-of-candour obligations.
REVIEW
Food & Fluid Refusal
Three consecutive meal or fluid refusals trigger a nutrition alert. Low 24-hour intake fires when below 60% of clinical targets.

FAQ

Common questions

Yes. DOBS is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works in any modern browser on any device. Install it to the home screen of any iPad, Android tablet, or smartphone for a full-screen app experience. No app store required.
DOBS is designed to meet CQC expectations for safe, effective, and well-led care. It provides structured observation records, a complete tamper-proof audit log, and exportable documentation for inspections. It also meets NHS Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) requirements.
All data is stored in a UK-based PostgreSQL database (eu-west-2 region) hosted on Neon. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. DOBS supports GDPR Right to Erasure — resident data can be permanently deleted at any time via the admin panel.
DOBS implements the National Early Warning Score 2 (NEWS2) to Royal College of Physicians standards. Staff enter the six physiological parameters and DOBS calculates the score automatically. Scores of 5-6 trigger urgent review alerts; scores of 7+ trigger critical escalation alerts with suggested actions.
Yes. DOBS includes a separate family portal at /family.html. Family members access it with a PIN and see read-only information about their loved one. They cannot access other residents' records or modify any data. The portal is designed to improve family communication and reduce call volume to staff.
DOBS uses WebAuthn (the W3C standard for biometric authentication) which leverages the device's built-in fingerprint reader or Face ID. No biometric data is ever sent to our servers — authentication happens entirely on-device. Staff can also use a 4-digit PIN as a fallback, which is stored using bcrypt hashing.
DOBS is designed for reliable connectivity environments standard in UK care homes. The PWA caches the app shell for offline access. Observations recorded offline will sync automatically when connectivity is restored. We recommend maintaining a stable WiFi network for real-time alerts.
